A2 Print Studio: Building community through printmaking.
A2 Print Studio (A2PS) is dedicated to relief, lithography, and the use of digital technology as a tool to make printmaking more accessible in the digital age. A2 Print Studio is invested in experimenting, investigating, and pushing the printed image into the future. A2PS offers workshops with small class sizes of 2-3, hosts visiting artists, and offers open studio time for individual projects. The A2 Print Studio provides small, affordable classes to anyone who wants to learn printmaking, or wants to rent time in a print studio to produce their own work. I want to help create a community of printmakers from Ann Arbor to Detroit and beyond.
The studio features a combination Takach press with two interchangeable heads—a litho bar and a relief drum--with a 30” by 60” bed. This allows for both lithographic and relief printing on one press. There is also a NuArc photo exposure unit for exposing photolithographic plates, a wide bed Epson printer to print transparency film, and a 50 shelf drying rack. (I will also be adding an X-Carve 3D carver for carving wood blocks for relief printing from digital files.) The A2PS is located in my converted 320 square foot garage in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The space has good natural light, track lighting, plumbing, heat & AC.
